You know what? I’ve stayed in plenty of riads in Marrakech, but Hotel & Ryad Art Place really got something right that most places miss. First off, the location is absolutely killer – you’re literally steps from Jemaa El Fna without being right in the chaos. The entrance is tucked into Riad Zitoun Lakdim, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time (typical narrow medina alley situation), but once you’re inside, it’s like stepping into this perfect bubble of calm.

The art thing isn’t just a gimmick either – I mean, you’ll see some genuinely beautiful pieces scattered throughout the property, and the whole design feels thoughtfully curated rather than just thrown together. The traditional riad architecture is gorgeous, with that classic central courtyard that stays cool even when it’s blazing outside. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to blend the historic bones of the place with modern touches that actually work. The rooms have proper air conditioning (trust me, this matters in summer), and the bathrooms are beautifully done with those gorgeous tadelakt walls that feel smooth as silk.

Honestly, the staff here deserves a special mention – they’re not just polite, they’re genuinely helpful in that way where you can tell they actually know the city. When I asked about getting to the Bahia Palace, the guy at reception didn’t just point me in a direction; he sketched out the best route and warned me about the busiest times. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll probably spend your evenings, and for good reason – the views over the medina are spectacular, especially at sunset when the call to prayer echoes across the rooftops. You can actually see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, which is pretty magical.

The breakfast spread is solid too, with fresh orange juice that’s clearly squeezed that morning and proper Moroccan pastries alongside the usual international stuff. One small thing – if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs. The medina never truly sleeps, and you’ll hear scooters and the occasional late-night revelry from the square. But honestly, that’s part of the charm of staying this close to the action. You’re getting the real Marrakech experience here, not some sanitized resort version. The 9.2 rating makes complete sense when you factor in the location, the genuine hospitality, and the fact that everything just works smoothly. For a five-star place in this part of the medina, the value is actually pretty incredible.

  The level of customer service from the second we arrived to when we left was exceptional. The pool on the roof was a godsend as we visited places in the morning and then spent the afternoon by the pool.

  My partner and I recently stayed at the Art Palace & Ryad Hotel, ideally located within Marrakech’s vibrant main square (the Medina), and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience from start to finish.
  
  From the moment we were picked up at the airport to the day we checked out, the service was consistently exceptional. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to make our stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and their hospitality was a standout aspect of our visit.
  
  We stayed in a Junior Suite, beautifully designed and featuring a four-poster bed with conveniently located plug sockets on either side – perfect for charging our phones overnight. The room also included his and hers bathrooms, each with a rainfall walk-in shower that was both luxurious and refreshing. While the hotel is alcohol-free – as is the surrounding square – this turned out to be a surprising bonus. We actually found it to be a detoxing and restorative experience.
  
  The rooftop terrace is a peaceful retreat, complete with a lovely swimming pool and sun loungers that are thoroughly cleaned each evening. The rooftop is surrounded by carefully tended plants, giving it a relaxed and tranquil ambiance. Afternoon service was available, and once again, the staff delivered exceptional hospitality.   Breakfast was included in our stay, and we were consistently impressed by the impeccable service provided by Mustapha and Rabie. The breakfast itself changed daily and offered a variety of fresh, local dishes. While different from what many Europeans might expect, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The view from the rooftop restaurant, perfectly named “the View”, overlooking the Medina and capturing sunsets over the bustling square, was genuinely breathtaking – like a scene from a film.
  
  Regarding dining, we chose to enjoy all our meals at the hotel.
