La Villa des Orangers – Relais & Châteaux Overview
You know what struck me first about La Villa des Orangers? It’s this incredible sense of stepping into someone’s private world rather than just another hotel. Tucked away on Rue Sidi Mimoune – which honestly, you’d walk right past if you weren’t looking for it – this place feels like Marrakech’s best-kept secret, even though it’s got the Relais & Châteaux pedigree. The entrance is so understated that our taxi driver actually drove past it twice, but that’s kind of the point. Once you’re inside those heavy wooden doors, the medina’s chaos just… disappears. I mean, you can still hear the call to prayer drifting over the walls, but suddenly you’re in this oasis of orange trees and fountain sounds that makes you forget you’re literally a five-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa.
The whole property feels like it grew organically rather than being designed – there are these little courtyards connected by narrow passages, and honestly, I got lost trying to find the spa on my second day. Each room is different, which I actually love because it means you’re not getting some cookie-cutter experience. Mine had this incredible carved cedar ceiling and a bathroom with tadelakt walls so smooth they felt like silk. The air conditioning worked perfectly (crucial in Marrakech, trust me), and the beds – well, let’s just say I’ve stayed in plenty of five-star places where the mattress was an afterthought. Not here. What really got me though was the staff’s approach to service. They’re not hovering or overly formal, but somehow they always seemed to appear right when you needed something. The concierge, Hassan, actually drew me a hand-sketched map to find this tiny leather workshop in the souks that I never would have discovered otherwise.
The restaurant is where this place really shines – breakfast on the rooftop terrace with the Atlas Mountains floating in the distance, and dinner in the garden where the orange blossom scent is almost overwhelming in the best possible way. I’ll be honest, it’s not cheap, but when you’re eating tagine that actually tastes like someone’s grandmother made it while surrounded by lanterns and the sound of fountains, the price feels justified. The pool area can get busy around 2 PM when everyone’s escaping the afternoon heat, but early morning or evening? It’s like having your own private retreat. If I had to nitpick, the WiFi in some rooms is a bit spotty, and the narrow streets mean you’ll need to walk a bit to meet any car larger than a petit taxi. But honestly, those feel like tiny inconveniences when you’re staying somewhere that manages to capture the soul of Marrakech while still giving you that luxury hotel experience. It’s the kind of place that makes you understand why people fall in love with Morocco.

Breakfast selection was extensive. Staff were very accommodating even when we were late. The porter was very helpful especially with advice on taxi fares. Overall, the staff were simply wonderful and the pool area was serene and comfortable.
What could be improved: Nothing that I can find fault with.Gorgeous hotel with attentive stuff – Tatyana from Ukraine – 14 April 2025 (10/10)
Absolutely gorgeous! Luxurious, secluded, beautiful riad. Facilities are drop dead gorgeous with many nooks and patios. Very attentive stuff, who helped us book in advance all restaurants and activities in Marrakech. Rooms were beautiful, clean, beds comfortable. I wish bathrooms had better light, but it was the only thing that was not ideal. Excellent place for romantic holiday or special occasion trip.

We enjoyed every moment of our stsy at Villa des Orangers and will be back – Youlia from United Kingdom – 31 March 2025 (10/10)
We stayed on the occasion of my sister’s anniversary, this trip was my gift to her. I informed the hotel in advance (as I did with all other places we visited ) and clearly they not only noted this but made every effort to welcome us as valued guests – we were upgraded to a wonderful suite with a private rooftop terrace overlooking the Koutoubia and the Medina with sun loungers and we also had our (very impressive) breakfast there next morning. We arrived earlier than standard check in time and were offered traditional welcome with tea and sweets by the pool and it was a pleasant surprise to get early check in too at 11am. The Reception team were simply wonderful, especially Kemal – they helped us with taxis and other arrangements. The villa’s decor is exquisite, very tasteful throughout. It’s a peaceful and restful place despite being well located to the Medina. We also had massages at the in-house Spa which completed a magical stay. My first choice to stay in Marrakech as it is a more intimate yet luxury experience compared to the big names in town.

The hotel was extraordinary 10/10. The tour arranged by the reception was all of them excelent.. The restaurant at the hotel was very good. The guide Mr. Ayoub Barrady who took us to the desert was a gentleman and outstanding with his services. Definitely if I come back to Marrakesh I'll stay at Villa Des Orangeries.
